Ethics Statement

[Charlie and I] both have this fundamental idea that the world works better if you make your relationships win win. And we both early learned that the way to get a good partner was to be a good partner.

Warren Buffett

Warren and Charlie are role models in ways well beyond the fields of investing. I firmly believe that doing things the right way is the only way to build a sustainable platform, community, or business that one can be proud of. My commitment to doing the right thing is at the core of what I do here at Investor's Journey, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to establish win-win relationships.

To that end, below you'll find a few thoughts on the ethics that form the foundation of my relationship with you.

Content Integrity

My work is my own. I create and produce each piece of content based on what I believe will help people become better long-term investors. My opinions are always my own, though I acknowledge I have personal biases and approach content as an enthusiast rather than claiming universal expertise.

Important Disclaimer: Nothing I share should be considered personalized investment advice. I don't know your specific financial situation, goals, risk tolerance, or time horizon. All investment decisions should be made based on your unique circumstances, potentially with the help of a qualified financial professional you know and trust.

Transparency About Personal Investments

I do discuss investments I personally own in my content. When I do so, I always disclose this relationship upfront. This transparency is non-negotiable, as I believe my audience deserves to know when I have a financial interest in what I'm discussing.

Sponsored Content & Partnerships

Currently, sponsored content is rare across my platforms. If I choose to work with a brand, it will always be because:

  1. I actually use their product or service myself
  2. I genuinely trust the brand to provide excellent value
  3. The partnership aligns with my mission of helping people become better long-term investors

I will always make it abundantly clear when content is sponsored. If I don't explicitly state that content is sponsored, then it is not sponsored. Pretty simple.

When recommending books, newsletters, data providers, or other investment tools, I only share resources I've personally used and found valuable. If I receive any form of compensation for these recommendations (affiliate links, etc.), I will clearly disclose this relationship.

Paid Products & Services

As my platform grows, I plan to offer premium products and services alongside the free content. These offerings will be clearly distinguished from the free content, with transparent pricing and clear descriptions of what subscribers/customers can expect.

I commit to maintaining high-quality free content even as paid offerings become available. The existence of premium options will never compromise the integrity or usefulness of the free content I provide.

My Non-Negotiables

For clarity, here are several additional principles I hold myself to:

A Final Note

This should be obvious, but in case it isn't: I cannot and do not guarantee any investment returns or results for those who follow my content or use the products and/or services made available through this site and the content I create. If you hear the word 'guarantee' (or any word that looks, sounds or smells like it) in the context of investing...turn and run. The investment world contains too many variables outside anyone's control to make such promises or claims realistic, let alone ethical.

What I can promise is my commitment to helping you develop the knowledge, skills, and perspectives that can lead to better long-term investment decisions, whatever those may look like for your specific situation.

Thanks for reading this ethics statement. I hope it provides clarity on how I approach my work and what you can expect from me as a content creator and educator.
